The
Legend of Bigfoot
The
modern Bigfoot legend started in California
as a prank in 1958. A road contractor named
Ray Wallace claimed to have found giant footprints
near his worksite. After Ray's death, his
family revealed that Ray's brother and nephew
used wooden feet to stamp imprints around
northern California. They also left hair
and feces samples behind. The Bigfoot legend
continues to this day with many other alleged
sightings, photographs, and films.
Bigfoot:
Fact or Fiction?
Experts
generally agree that claims about Bigfoot's
existence are untrue. Rather than sightings
of a real creature, belief in the presence
of such a big, ape-like monster is more frequently
the result of hoaxes or confusion about what
one is seeing.
Some
people believe Bigfoot sightings are the result
of idiots dressed in gorilla suits. Nobody
genuinely knows. What matters is people have
had a lot of fun with
the legend throughout the years. Bigfoot's presence can never be proven or
disproven, and the mythology will endure until
the end of time. |
